Pennyroyal Center
offers a program of group therapy and education for anger or violence offenders.
The primary goal of this program is to provide safety for victims and the
community. The program deals with topics such as recognizing and letting
go of anger, non-violent behavior, communcating feelings, and substance
abuse as it relates to violence.
Persons needing anger managment classes are referred to Pennyroyal Center by the courts, DCBS, Probation
and Parole as well as self-referrals.
Those referred by
the courts are expected to call Pennyroyal Center within the time specified
by the judge to schedule an assessment and group therapy. Appointments can

An individual assessment
will be scheduled with a Pennyroyal Center clinician. Cost of the assessment
is $50, which must be paid at the time of the assessment.

You will receive
a packet of information including date, time, and location of your assessment
and group sessions; information on fees, expectations, rules, and client
rights; and forms to fill out and sign (screening and authorizations).
The court requires
a report on your compliance (completing your assessment and enrolling in
your group session). It is the client's responsibility to take the compliance
letter to the Clerk's office to be placed in their file before the proof
date set by the court.
Domestic Violence
group sessions follow the assessment. The program includes 12 60-minute
weekly group sessions. The cost is $15 per group session, payable at the
time of the session.
Regular attendance
is mandatory. Non-compliance with the program will be reported to the court.
Non-compliant behavior may include repeated absence (two absences result
in dismissal); disrupting the group; failing to complete assignments; violation
of a court order; or recurring domestic violence.
